Next meeting:    Saturday, March 31, 2007
Main Branch Library, Houma, LA 1:00 p.m.

At our February meeting, the last meeting of our 25th year,  we viewed the middle portion of the VCR tape Digital Imaging for Genealogy which was mostly about digital cameras and photo editing. The final part, which we did not see because it would have taken too long, is about using the images in a couple of different genealogy programs. If you have the chance, you might want to check it out for yourself. I found it in the Lafourche Parish Library System, so it may be in your local library. It’s worth looking for it.
Our hard-working president, Phil CHAUVIN Jr. mentioned that in the 25 years we have been in existence, we have published approximately 117,000 pages of publications; including quarterlies, newspaper obituaries, and other material. And while we’re talking about that, our illustrious publisher, Audrey WESTERMAN, is looking for your family history, family traditions, your brick walls, and any other material you may be sitting on while waiting for the right time to send it in. She just asks that it be relevant to this area.

WHERE ARE YOU? Does anyone know the whereabouts of any of the following? Please let us know so we can change our records. We sent out quarterlies recently and six of them were returned to us. The members are: Dr. Stanley BARRAS, Dan TERREBONNE, Kathryn STUART, Sheryn TURNER, Frances WALKER, Patricia McCONIGA. It costs us $2.07 to retrieve these quarterlies from the post office. It will cost another $1.85 to re-mail them to our members. Please send $4.00 to cover these costs. And just a reminder, we have no way of knowing when you move or otherwise change your address. Please drop us a line to tell us as soon as possible so we can adjust our records.

LOOK AT YOUR LABEL: Your mailing label on this newsletter should say EX2/08 on the top line; if it doesn’t say that, you have NOT renewed your membership and the next issue of Terrebonne Life Lines will not be sent to you. Fair warning.

BOOKS WANTED: Anna S. ADAMS of Clearwater, FL, would like to purchase a set of used Baton Rouge Diocese books. She plans to donate the set to her local library (Largo County Library, Florida) when she finishes with them. If you can help her with this quest, please contact her at 1655 S. Highland Ave, J396, Clearwater, FL 33756, or email aadams3 at tampabay.rr.com or phone 727-501-1885. She says that her library only has a set of Father HEBERT’s books, so if you have some other used books of Louisiana genealogy, please let her know.

BOOKS AVAILABLE: Our Engagement, Marriage Licenses and Births for 2006 from the Houma Courier and Daily Comet (Lafourche Parish) are available (while the supply lasts) at the bargain price of $25.00 plus shipping and handling.

This just in from HEBERT PUBLICATIONS: [I quote] “So many of you have asked me to reprint the book ACADIANS IN EXILE by Father Donald HEBERT. Due to numerous requests I have decided to reprint it. This will probably be the ONLY reprint I am going to do. This book has been out of print since before Father HEBERT’s untimely death in 2000. If you are interested please let me know. Please reserve your copy NOW by notifying me...” Bonnie Beaullieu, Hebert publications, P. O. Box 147, Rayne, LA 70578 or email bonibeau at bellsouth.net
