What kind of things would you like to see at the meetings? Tell us. We need you input.  Do you want more speakers?  What is it that you want to learn at the meetings? Call, email or speak to one of the board members about your ideas or what you would like at the meeting.

At our last meeting we were suppose to have a guest speakers, but he was out making a movie. So will have to wait until he will be available. Barbara Whitfield will let us know when he will be available.

SEMINARS

The Lafourche Heritage Society Seminar will be held August 9, 2008 at Envie in Thibodaux. We will have more details at a later date. If you are a member of the society you will receive a registration form. They would like to have a few exhibits to display. Call them ahead of time to reserve your space.

The Historic New Orleans Collection is having an Italian Genealogy workshop with June C. DeLalio. On Saturday, August 23, 2008, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Research Center 410 Chartes St., New Orleans, LA. Registration is required due to limited seating. Call (504) 523-4662 to register. Registration fee is $25.00 until Aug 9, after that fee will be $35.00 until all space is used. Lunch is not provided. For more info you can visit www.hnoc.org .

Fly Away Travel not taking reservations for the 2008 Genealogy Seminar at Sea, October 25 to November 1, 2008. The seminar will be hosted on board Royal Caribbean Islands off Puerto Rico, St Maarten and Royal Caribbean’s private paradise of Labadee. DEATHS

Charter member Thelma Frickey Perret died Monday, May 5, 2008 at River Ridge, LA. Beloved wife of Daniel J. Perret, mother of Brandt Perret, Faye P. Stage and husband, Kenneth Stage. Daughter of the late Evans Frickey, Sr. and Odette Picou Frickey. Sister of the late Lerrie, Amos and Evans Frickey, Jr. and Helen F. Griffin. Grandmother of Melissa Perret, Christina Walls, Summer Freeman, Sarah Reese, Samantha Stage and Stephanie Stage. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. A native of Bayou Gauche and a resident of Westwego, LA. Age 83 years. Interment Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche, LA.

BIRTH ANNOUCEMENT

Member Martha Haydel Blank and husband, Jack Blank of Houma announce the arrival of a grandson. Hunter Paul Trahan born February 11, 2008 at TGMC. The proud parents are Michael John Trahan, Jr. and Gina Blackwell Trahan. Hunter was 20 1//2 inches long and weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz. His maternal grandparents are Barry and Debbie Maricelli Blackwell of Houma.
