We had an exciting meeting last month. We reminisced about the last 28 years of the society’s existence. Do you remember the old way we had to index the quarterly or old publications we have printed? Have you been part of our society? Have you donated your time and effort to make it the best genealogical society in Louisiana, maybe in the world? Nancy WRIGHT, our wonderful secretary, has written a beautiful memorial letter of the Society and those wonderful people who helped get us started. It will be published in our next quarterly, for those who did not attend the meeting. We want to thank all those who have contributed material, time, and effort with all of the publications we have printed. Your efforts are not unnoticed. Damon Veach’s column has given your articles and/or stories some outstanding comments. Claitors is now publishing his column, every Monday. His web site is http://www.claitors.com/veach/cajunsv1n2/pdf. Check it out sometimes he has some wonderful articles himself.
NOTICE
Have you noticed a little change in the quarterly? The board felt that it was not being read, but only used as a reference. Like who reads the dictionary? We wanted people to want to pick it up to read stories, life stories of our parents and grandparents. So Ed HICKS, our Vice President, started a project to help the genealogy department of the Terrebonne Parish Library that involved oral history tapes. Well, lo and behold we printed a few in our quarterly, and we got what we were looking for. People now want to read these family history stories, which were transcribed from the tapes. Also, more members have submitted their family stories and pedigree charts. More people are reading the Terrebonne Life Lines quarterly now, instead of just as a reference. We will continue to have the basic materials. But we invite you to submit your family stories and genealogy to the quarterly editor Wanda Moore at wmoore1048@aol.com. Check you label, if it says EX2/09 in the upper left corner, this will be your last newsletter. You will be removed from the active membership list. SEMINARS
