If your envelope that this newsletter came in shows EX2/10 in the top right corner of the label you have not renewed your membership and this will be your last newsletter. Dues are due by March 1, 2010 , do it now or you will miss out on your next newsletter. A renewal membership form is attached to this newsletter. Please provide your email address also. Our membership list is private and is not given out to anyone; only officers and board members have this list.

ELECTION TIME

Our present president, Phillip Chauvin, Jr. and vice-president, Ed Hicks and three board members have decided not to run again. These are the nominees that have accepted the nominations. For President we will have a run off between Ronald Berger and Patricia (Patty) Whitney; Vice-President Louis Duet; Recording Secretary, Sheila Rodrigue; Corresponding Secretary, Jess Bergeron; Treasurer, Nancy Wright; Directors, Blanche Brown, Sandra Boudreaux, Sondras Saucier and Gloria Darcey The election will take place at the February 27, 2010 meeting. We will also take nomination from the floor at the meeting. You can nominate yourself or someone else by contacting the Nominating Committee, which consists of Gloria Hicks (985) 532-3586, Dorothy Bergeron (985) 876-2348 and Marcie Cavalier (985) 876-0416.

At the January meeting Essie presented a power point visual of the pictures from the Annual Holiday Social Gathering we had in December 2009. It is so nice to see all the fun everyone was having. This is another historical event for our society. Come join us at the next gathering.

SEMINARS
     The Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Society is holding its 2010 annual meeting and seminar on Saturday, April 24 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 4914 Constitution Ave. in Baton Rouge . The details are being finalized and will be communicated in a follow-up announcement. Full details are available at their website: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~la-lghs/ . Members registering before March 31 st --$30. Non-members & registering after March 31 st --$35. On-site registration is 7:45-8:45am . A lunch buffet will not be provided as in previous years. However, a lengthy lunch break has been scheduled and there are numerous restaurants nearby.
      The Mississippi Coast Historical & Genealogical Society and the City of Biloxi is holding its 20 th Annual Mississippi Coast History Week February 21 – February 27, 2010 To mark the 311 th anniversary of Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville's landing on their shores, the Most Reverend Roger Morin, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi will celebrate mass at the Biloxi Community Center on Wednesday, February 24 at 10am. Many coast cultural groups will have displays. Presentations will include re-enactors dressed in 18 th century reproduction French Colonial attire. The public is invited to view exhibits at the Biloxi Community Center 591 Howard Ave., Biloxi , MS, Monday – Wednesday, 9 am to 2 pm. Admission is free. HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Essie Joseph Cavalier's mother, Angele Simoneaux Cavalier, celebrated her 102nd. birthday on 12 February 2010 . She was born on 12 February 1908 . Her parents are Frank and Adrienne Daigle Simoneaux and had married on 16 February 1933 to Delphe Joseph Cavalier, now deceased.

CORRECTION
     I would like to apologize for my typo on the last newsletter. I inadvertently put Vol. 28, No. 11, it should read Vol. 28, No. 10.

QUARTERLY
      I want to thank everyone who has been sending in material for the quarterly. I am in the need for more material. If you have something you would like to submit please mail it to me at 116 Cottonwood Dr. , Houma , LA 70360 or send to me as an attachment to an email to wmoore1048@aol.com .

BOOK COMMITTEE
      Can't find a genealogy book in the Terrebonne Parish Library and you would like in there!!! Contact Patty Whitney, pattywhitney@hotmail.com or at the meeting, with the title, author, & publisher and she will see that the library gets it, if they can.

PRESERVATION
     We are looking for someone to help us digitize our past quarterlies. If you are interest please speak to one of the board members at the meeting or email Jess or Wanda. See above for email addresses.
