GUEST SPEAKER
Dr. Linda Corley Dr. Linda Corley's topic was on Jean Lafitte. There are many, many myths about Lafitte. What was his original name? Who were his parents? Where did he come from? There are so many questions involving this one character. One thing that everyone agrees on is that he was a pirate. She has written several books. In her book "Buried Treasures: The Age of Manifest Destiny?" a historical novel has her account of Jean Lafitte. This is a book of history and fiction.

NEW WEBSITE
Is still under construction but we have a new web master. Shelia KRAEMER SALOMONE was born in Alexandria, LA. Her ancestors from her Paternal Grandfather were from the Kraemer, LA area. Her 3rd Great Grandmother owned a store where the first Kraemer Post Office was located. Her Paternal Grandmother was a ROGER and most of her ancestors were from the Assumption and surrounding areas. She is married with 4 children and 12 grandchildren. She loves genealogy and caught the bug years ago. In fact her Aunt Carrie "Kay" Landry, who some of you might remember, was a member of TGS for many years. Her career for the last 25+ years was software and web development. She is thrilled and honored to be asked to create a new web site for TGS. In fact, she hopes that many of you will please send her a quick email, or note giving her some suggestions on what you would like to see in our new web site! Or give any of the officers your suggestions. She would appreciate it very much because the more input we receive, the more successful our web site will be! We want to know your likes, dislikes, what you want to add, or what you want to take away.

FAMILY CHARTS
If you have attended the last few meetings, you will know that Gloria Darcey has been collecting names that have the same common surnames to hers. A few of the surnames are BRUNET, BOURG & DARCEY. She is planning to have a reunion of people with these surnames in the future. She would like people to bring their family charts to display at the meeting in order or gather more surnames. It does not matter if your surnames are not the same as Gloria's; we want you to still consider bringing your 15 generation chart to the meeting.

HOSPITALITY
We want to thank all that brought the delicious snacks and treats we had to eat. These treats are not paid for by the society. The hospitality crew and other members bring them out of the goodness of their hearts. Yes we do have a hospitality crew and they will not refuse any donations. Also, we thank all those that brought door prizes.

FIELD TRIP
Ronald Berger is planning a trip to the State Archives in Baton Rouge. He can accommodate up to 5 people. If you are interested in going on this field trip contact Ronald, so that together everyone can decide which day and time would be best for everyone going. Talk to Ronald at the meeting to set up this trip.
