JESS SAYS IT IS TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP. DUES ARE DUE BY FEBRUARY 28, 2014. DO IT TODAY. MEMBERSHIP FORM IS ATTACHED TO THIS NEWSLETTER. Please check your labels for any typos or errors. Also look at the upper right hand corner if it says EX2/14 your dues are due. If it says EX2/15 or 16 your dues are paid. The labels will be printed on Feb. 17 so if you mailed your dues recently the label may not show that we have received them yet.
We want to thank Gayle Breaux Smith for coming to speak for our January meeting.
Calling all members that are within driving distance to the meeting, we need you to come and vote. It is time to vote for new officers and directors. We will be voting for a new president, vice-president, treasurer, recording secretary, correspondence secretary and three directors. If you would like to run for a position please contact someone from our election committee, which consists of Dorothy Bergeron, Marcie Cavalier or Gloria Hicks. We will also take nominations from the floor. The current president is Patty Whitney, vice-president is Gloria Darcey, treasurer is Sandra Boudreaux, recording secretary is Connie Gaines, correspondence secretary is Jess Bergeron, and directors are Katherine Brown, Sondras Saucier, Nancy Wright and Phil Chauvin. These positions are for a two year term. We need your vote.
We will not have a guest speaker this month due to the elections.
Allen Junius Joseph CLEMENT, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his home. His body was donated to LSU School of Medicine, and no services are scheduled at this time. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Robichaux Clement; daughters, Sandra Clement Boudreaux (member of TGS) and husband, Allen, Dale Gray, and Kim Clement LeBlanc and husband, Mac; son, Bryan Clement and wife, Susie; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Eugene Clement and Viola Percle Clement; and sisters, Faith Clement and Tracy Clement Naquin.
Ruth Pellegrin WRIGHT, 96, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died Monday, January 20, 2014 with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. She is survived by her sons, Thomas Love Wright and wife Harriet Chauvin Wright of Ft. Meyers, FL, Richard Patrick Wright and wife Diane Troxler Wright of Plaquemine; grandchildren, Margaret, Elizabeth, William, Holden and wife Aron, Timothy and wife, Blaire, and James and Anne Wright; great-grandchildren, Madison and Oliva Wright, Gavin Hebert and Charlotte Wright; step-granddaughters, Lynell Ervin and husband Shane and Nicole Dufrene and husband Glenn; step-great-grandchildren Scott Deloach, Alex Dufrene, Ashlyn Ervin and Alyssa Ervin; step-great-great grandchildren, McKinna and Kiley Deloach; brother-in-law, Stanly “S.E.” Edward Bergeron, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. She was a beloved aunt of TGS member Nancy & Elly Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Roland Wright; son, Robert “Bob’ Roland Wright, Jr.; parents Love Wallace Pellegrin and Laura Pellegrin; brothers, Myrden and Terry Pellegrin and sister Myrtle Bergeron. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral and member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Terrebonne Historical Society.
Norbert RICHARD, 90, a native and resident of Thibodaux, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. His burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Leonard Richard (member of TGS); brother, Emile Richard; sister, Irene Landry; children, Charles Richard and wife Romney, Louise Ledet and husband Jimmy, Clare Lagarde and husband Johnny, Daniel Richard and wife Monna, and Anne Lejeune and husband Brian; grandchildren Brian Richard and wife Kathy, Gregory Richard and wife Karen, Eric Richard, Matthew Ledet and wife Ashlee, Sarah Daigle and husband Johnathon, John Berger and Holly Richard; step-grandchildren, Inga Baker and husband Andy, Alix O’Donnell and husband Chris, and Lindsey Boudreaux and husband Dustin, and great-grandchildren, Abby and Jake Richard, Hannah Richard and Ethan Hunter, Adam and Josephine Ledet, Olivia and Clay Daigle, and Lorcan O’Donnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Nora LeBlanc Richard; and brothers, Michael, Linton and James Richard. He was a proud U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. He worked as an overseer with Southdown Sugars for approximately 30 years. After he retired he was employed by Commercial Pipe Services and the retired from the Lafourche Parish School Board in 1992. He was a parishioner of St Joseph Co-Cathedral where he served as an usher for many years. He loved fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
