SEMINARS
St. Louis Genealogical Society's 42nd Annual Family History Conference, Saturday, 28 April 2012 at Maryland Heights Centre, 2344 McKelvey Road, St. Louis, MO, titled Methods for Cultivating Our Family Trees, featuring nationally known author, editor, teacher, and lecturer, with a specialty in genealogical methods, Thomas Jones, PhD, CG, CGL, FASG, FUGA, FNGS and Leland Meitzler, owner of Family Roots Publications, author, editor and lecturer and some local speakers. Conference fees before April 14, 2012 (lunch not incl.) members $40, non-members $50, after April 14, 2012 (lunch not incl.) members $50, non-members $60. Add $10 for lunch. LIBRARY NEWS
Join the library to celebrate with the 1940 Census Launch Party, April 2, 2012, 10 am – 2 pm at the Main Library 151 Library Dr. Houma, LA. Start in the large meeting room with a presentation and tutorial on how to find your family. Brown bag it, bring your lunch to the library, while you are entertained with 1940's music, movies and news reels. The computer lab will be dedicated all day to 1940 census research. Please note the census has not yet been indexed by name, you will need to know where your people were living in 1940. You are also welcome to browse the records out of historical curiosity.

DEATHS
MembershipTimothy Ray HEBERT, 50, was born in Houma, LA on Sept. 21, 1961, died at 11:08 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Terrebonne General Medical Center of Brain Cancer. Burial was at Garden of Memories Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann MCCORKEL HEBERT who he married on Jan. 7, 1984; son, Jonathon and wife Andrea; daughters, Katie and Chrissy HEBERT; grandchildren, Willow, Jack, and Xander HEBERT; parents, Norman HEBERT and Shirley MARCEL HEBERT; sister, Terri HEBERT and husband, David; brother, Troy HEBERT and wife, Lisa; nieces, Stephanie, Kelly, and Amanda HEBERT, and Kaitlyn SAVAGE; nephews, Brandon and Alex HEBERT, Trey GRAHAM, Will SAVAGE, Christopher and Wesley MCCORKEL, Noah and Gabe WHEAT; parents-in-law, Clyde and Ann MCCORKEL; sisters-in-law, Susan SAVAGE and husband, John, Mariah WHEAT and husband, Kevin; and brother-in-law, William "Bill" MCCORKEL.. After graduating from Terrebonne High School, he attained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from LSU and a master's degree in business administration from Nicholls State University. After running a photography studio for a short time, Tim became a teacher, eventually teaching at his alma mater, Terrebonne High. Tim was very active in the First United Methodist Church, historian, web servant, and lay delegate to annual conference, Certified Lay Ministry chair, Lay Speaking Ministry director, chair of Commission on Archives and History, and lay delegate to Jurisdictional Conference. Other organizations to which Timothy belonged include the Terrebonne Historical Society and the Terrebonne Genealogical Society. He also authored several books on Acadian-Cajun history and genealogy.

Bernice DOMINIQUE HEBERT SEEBER, 87, was born Oct. 5, 1924 on Goyosa Plantation, LA, died Friday, February 10, 2012 of Westwego, LA after a long battle with Alzheimer. Burial was at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Westwego, LA. She is survived by her sister, Annie B. DOMINIQUE GUIDRY (Edmond/Bud); four children: Joseph L HEBERT, Jr.(Rhetta), Suzanne HEBERT CRAVEN (Bobby), Janet HEBERT LEE (Jimmy/Scooter) and Randy A. HEBERT; seven grandchildren: Lori HEBERT LEVY, Jimmy LEE, Julie GAUDET, Jaye HEBERT, Lonnie GAUDET, Jeffrey LEE, and Jodi HEBERT BORDELON. She has 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Antoine W. DOMINIQUE and Catherine DUFRENE DOMINIQUE; her first husband: Joseph (Pete) Loney HEBERT and her second husband William (Buck) SEEBER; Her maternal grandparents Alfred DUFRENE and Marie HARTMAN DUFRENE. She worked for doctors Joseph and Anthony MASSONE and Dr. C. J. Meyers. She was dedicated to her work in genealogy. She belonged to several organizations: The German Coast, LeComite des Archives, St. Mary Links, Acadian Genealogy, West Bank La Societe, Des Cajuns, Terrebonne Genealogical Society, Lafourche Heritage Society and Pointe de L'Eglise

Francis "Red" HEBERT, 68, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 1:35 AM. He was born in Mathews, LA and a lifelong resident of Westwego, LA. Interment will be in Holy Sanctified Cemetery, Westwego, LA. He is survived by Judy Schwartz HEBERT for the past 43 years. He was the father of Dawn HEBERT CAMARDELLE (Raymond "Moose") and Jennifer HEBERT FLEMING (Raymond "Bo"); two sisters Merlyn H. DUGAS (Cameron Sr.) Merlyn is a member of the Terrebonne Genealogical Society and Betty H. CHERAMIE (late Charlie). He is survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar HEBERT and Alexina "Toot" ADAMS HEBERT: his parents-in-law Joseph P. SCHWARTZ and Marie Lois JUMMONVILLE SCHWARTZ.

The Gravois Reunion is planned for 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Community Center in Vacherie, LA. Good Louisiana food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided at a cost of $10 for those 15 and over, and $5 for children. If you plan to attend, please respond by April 4 so we can plan for the right amount of food.
