NEXT MEETING: July 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m., MAIN LIBRARY 151 Library Dr. Houma, LA 70360

WOW!! What a great meeting we had. We were joined by several new people. Patty Whitney was our speaker and she gave a great presentation on the basic computer genealogy on Family Tree Maker. I hope this helped anyone struggling with computer genealogy. I myself learned a few things that I was not aware that I could do on my Family Tree Program. She also tried to do a presentation for Facebook but she was unable to connect at the time. What a great teaching meeting. Thanks, Patty.

SPEAKER
“Cistern Builder“ Ray Weimer will be our speaker this month. He was hired by Mr. Duet, as a mere youth of 14 or 15, to do renovations at Acadian Plantation. One of the construction project was to build a new cistern, after a quick lesson by Mr. Duet. Ray learned the art of cistern building. He is the owner of Weimer Contractors, Inc. and his sons David & Danny work with him. Danny has learned how to build cisterns from his dad to carry on his legacy. You may have seen Ray at Heritage Festivals and Fairs showing his skill as a cistern builder. He is the son of Frank and Edna Richard Weimer and he is married to Beulah Gravois. Come hear his story!
